What is Viora?

Viora is a laser technology designed to improve the appearance of a wide range of skin conditions. Clinical trials suggest Viora is especially effective for vascular lesions, especially spider veins and varicose veins.

The Viora machine has many customizable settings, so Dr. Caruso is able to adjust the intensity of the laser to fit your particular treatment needs, and unlike older laser technologies, it works on all skin types and tones. Treatment with Viora is safe, noninvasive, requires no downtime, and causes minimal discomfort.

What are spider veins?

Spider veins are red, purple, and blue blood vessels that are easily visible through the skin, most often on the legs and face, and have branches that resemble spider webs. Spider veins are different from varicose veins, which are larger and bulge from the skin, and often cause pain, itching, and burning. However, both varicose and spider veins have similar risk factors, including genetics, pregnancy, being overweight, and putting pressure on your legs by standing for long periods of time.

Though spider veins are largely a cosmetic condition, you may feel self-conscious about them and feel the need to cover them up with clothing or makeup, which you may find challenging and time-consuming. Thankfully, spider veins respond well to laser treatments such as Viora.

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are twisted and swollen veins that can appear blue or red in color. They tend to form in the lower part of the body, specifically the legs, and can be accompanied by spider veins. Varicose veins are generally visible immediately below the skin and can be accompanied with a number of other symptoms, including:

  • Skin discoloration
  • Itchiness
  • Leg aches, pain, or cramps

While treatment for varicose veins are mainly for cosmetic reasons, they may cause considerable discomfort. Like spider veins, varicose veins can be treated with Viora’s laser technology.

What can I expect from laser treatment with Viora?

Following a consultation where you discuss your medical concerns, Dr. Caruso develops a Viora treatment plan with your goals in mind. Treatment sessions involve Dr. Caruso using a handheld device to apply the Viora laser to your skin. Each session lasts about half an hour, though it may be shorter or longer depending on your condition and the size of the area being treated.

The Viora machine has a built-in cooling system to prevent your skin from getting too hot during the session, and you’ll be able to return to work or your everyday activities right after your treatment.

You may need 4-8 sessions to get the results you want, but you’ll likely notice the effects of each treatment immediately, so you won’t have to wait weeks to get a sense of your progress. After the series of treatments, you may need to come in for a touchup every 3-6 months.
